In the Moreno lab, we are interested in understanding how managed and natural ecosystems can be redesigned to better strike a balance between ecological functions and human needs. We work in a variety of settings in the U.S. and abroad, including rural farmlands, urban forests, and state fisheries. We place a strong focus on interdisciplinary approaches, often drawing on theory and methods in ecology, agronomy, and sociology, to develop interesting research questions and address environmental issues.
